University Defence Research Centre (UDRC) in Signal Processing Theme Meeting at Imperial College on 5 November 2009.

Researchers participating in the Open Call (jointly sponsored by the EPSRC and Dstl), Core research (at Imperial College funded by MoD/Dstl) and Internal research (carried out at Dstl) in signal processing are invited to attend this Theme meeting.

The purpose of the meetings is for the participants to get to know each other, to build synergy and identify possible collaborations in signal processing among institutes and researchers.

Sensor Signal Processing for Defence (SSPD 2010) is the first annul Conference orginised by the UDRC to be held at Imperial College London, UK from 29-30 September 2010. The purpose of the conference is to provide a public forum for researchers from academia, defence, government and industry to present, exchange ideas and discuss developments in multisensory signal processing.

Research Spotlight

[I4] Multi-Beam SAR

The goal of this project is to develop a general detection theory to guide the processing of images from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) along track interferometers (ATI) with greater than two beams. Such a detection theory should allow the construction of constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection rules for small, slow moving targets in high clutter environments. The technical approach taken is to decompose the multi-beam covariance matrix via an Eigen decomposition and investigate the use of the decomposition parameters and Eigenvalues as ground moving target indication (GMTI)
